Battletech Missions

Introduction

Battletech Missions is an experimental ongoing Battletech campaign. Each player plays the role of a ‘Mech pilot working for a small Mercenary company. Players will develop their pilots over the course of a series of Missions. Each mission is run by a “Game Master” playing the opposing force against a group of 4-6 player ‘mechs with a defined set of objectives.

Each pilot in the group will receive rewards in the form of C-Bills and XP based on whether or not the mission is successful, whether their ‘mech survives, and so forth. C-Bills are used to upgrade ‘mechs, XP is used to upgrade pilots. At the end of the game each player will be given a certificate detailing his rewards, as well as a list of new equipment that was salvaged during that mission, making it available for purchase.

Battletech Missions is designed to act like many other “Living” Campaigns. This means that the group of players doesn’t need to be consistent from one run to another. Players of different experience level can easily play together, and games can be put together from whatever pool of players is available. It is also designed so that record-keeping can be handled by the players, so that they can arrive at a game and be ready to play even if they have never met the GM running the game.

Comments? Concerns?

This is all provided As-is right now. Feel free to use any of this if you’d like to give it a try with your local group. If you find any of it confusing, incorrect, or whatever, please let me know at: jamez@iwptech.com. I welcome comments. Also, please check back regularly! I add new missions roughly once a month, and some day I hope to have a player and GM tracking tool here as well.
